After a decade of working in a rather stressful profession, one constantly envy the freedom and independence of someone whose life is not restricted to 9-6 routines of weekdays. In a profession predominated by men (males) where very few women make their marks so far, trying to keep up with the profession itself is, at times, nerve wrecking. Racing against time, meeting deadlines, enduring tension every Sunday evening and fighting Monday blues – I thought life was nothing but miseries. Yet, the irony is when one is on the other side - with all the time and choice at his/her disposal, we could as well begin liking the earlier so-called–miserable hard life. Inevitably, the grass is always greener on the other side.
Today, I stand on the threshold of a new road – a road filled with uncertainty and risks but ultimately may lead to the dreams and promises. After a lot of soul searching exercise and mustering all courage, I just resigned from a responsible position (quite so). In a profession where the real flavor and job satisfaction lie on being independent, I reasoned that a decade of learning and earning is good enough. It’s time to pursue the dream; one may thrive or perish, but unless one take the plunge and tread the path, we will never know the answer. And with this firm belief, we go ahead to our destiny ...
